The South Florida Preschool PTA provides a nursery facility staffed with safe responsible Caregivers for members and guest’s children during our monthly meetings. There is a fee of $5 for the first child and $2.00 for each additional child. These fees are used to cover the cost of paying the Caregivers for their time worked and for miscellaneous supplies used in the nursery. The nursery is free for first time visitors.
The SFPPTA hires individual Caregivers recommended by our members. We carefully research three references for each Caregiver. The Nursery Committee Members regularly check the nursery throughout the meeting to ensure that all children are doing well. If a child is inconsolable, he/she will be taken out of the room by a Nursery Committee Member and brought to their parent. Parents are urged not to check on their children in the nursery rooms because it will disrupt their activities. If there is a concern for your child’s well being, please ask a Nursery Committee Member to check on your child.
Please call our Nursery Coordinator, Mimi Morales at (305) 279-6122 if you would like to recommend any additional qualified Caregivers.
IMPORTANT:
Only children up to one year of age are allowed to stay with their moms during the meeting, if desired. However, the nursery will still be available for those moms with infants 7 months to 1 year who wish to use it. If you choose to have your child in the meeting, please be considerate of the speaker and other members and remove them if they cause a disruption during the meeting. We also ask that you refrain your child from playing with the blinds or going into the kitchen.
AGE GROUPS:
Our children are divided into two groups:
I. Infants and children in diapers, from 7 months & up
II. Potty trained Toddlers & Preschoolers
We ask that you adhere to the division of the age groups as the toys, games, and activities are age-appropriate.
ITEMS TO BRING: (Please write your child’s/children’s name on all personal belongings):
Infant Bottles, drinks, snacks, diapers, wet wipes, and a change of clothing.
Toddler A drinking cup with a lid, diapers, wet wipes, and a change of clothing.
Preschooler A cup with a lid.
EMERGENCY HELPERS:
All parents who use the nursery will be on call as an “Emergency Helper”. We hope that we will not have to call any “Emergency Helpers”, but please volunteer your time if we do need your help. By sharing the burden, your services may only be requested once during the year.
